Foo Fighters Surprise Fans with Cover Recorded Over 30 Years – ROCK 95.5
Formed in 1994, the Foo Fighters made their mark in the music industry with the release of their self-titled debut album in June 1995. Fast forward 30 years, and the band marked this milestone by sharing a cover of Minor Threat’s “I Don’t Wanna Hear It” that was recorded over three decades. The unique aspect of this rendition is that the instrumentation was laid down in 1995, while the vocals were recorded in 2025.
Since Dave Grohl’s announcement of welcoming a new baby outside his marriage in September, the band has kept a low profile. Following this revelation, the group reportedly decided to cancel their touring plans for 2025. Despite this, Grohl has kept busy throughout the year. From spending his birthday cooking meals for those affected by the Los Angeles wildfires to reuniting Nirvana with Post Malone for the SNL 50th Anniversary concert, collaborating with Jack Black on a song for the “A Minecraft Movie” soundtrack, and surprising Coachella attendees with performances alongside the Los Angeles Philharmonic and at a school fundraiser in Los Angeles, Grohl has been actively engaging in various musical endeavors.
Although the band has not made much noise, they do have two shows lined up for this year. The Foo Fighters are set to perform at the Singapore Grand Prix on October 4 and at the Corona Capital Festival in Mexico City on November 14. Their last live performance took place on August 18, 2024 at Seattle’s T-Mobile Park.
The upcoming shows will be significant as they mark the first performances without drummer Josh Freese. Freese had stepped in following the tragic death of longtime drummer Taylor Hawkins in 2022. The band has yet to announce who will take on the role of the new drummer.
Throughout their career, the Foo Fighters have demonstrated resilience and adaptability in the face of challenges. Their latest venture into reimagining “I Don’t Wanna Hear It” showcases their ability to evolve and stay relevant in the ever-changing landscape of the music industry. Fans eagerly anticipate what the future holds for this iconic band as they continue to push boundaries and captivate audiences worldwide.
In the meantime, take a listen to The Foos’ rendition of “I Don’t Wanna Hear It” to experience their musical evolution firsthand.
