few tears. Noah Kahan was the final artist bringing Northern Attitude to London for one night only. His set included all our favourite tracks from I Was/I Am, with exquisite guitar-heavy songs aplenty, even admitting to feeling a little shaky on the big stage. His songwriting about loneliness and longing won over the crowd, many of whom were there just for him. A particular highlight was His most recent single Something Loved which may be the biggest hit from his second studio album coming later in the year. Finishing off his set with Brightest Star, a sharp contrast to the intimate setting he has played for throughout lockdown, he then welcomed a ”top-secret” and yet “friendly” duo back to the stage.

The screams were loud as Gracie was welcomed back to the stage to perform their duet again, inciting a powerful echo from Madison poet Black Item through the giant BST sound system. As the set closed, Gracie remembered her mother’s wise words for starting “if you start, you’re halfway there” which would be the key to kick-starting her music career as a teenager, after not picking up her guitar post-7th grade and leading to the amazing journey that has seen her stand on the BST stage today.

With that in mind we headed off through the throngs of Londoners who had watched the all-American line-up across the entirety of the day without a care in the world. The crowds were now waiting for the main event and some were lining up in droves to catch a glimpse of some of the biggest names in music that Hyde Park has ever played host to. And so with a little flourish and a kiss blown from the stage, the lights dimmed and For The High Road began.
