King Diamond cancels two European tour dates due to strep throat
KING DIAMOND has recently encountered some health issues that led to the cancellation of two shows on his current European tour. The iconic shock-metal artist had to cancel his appearances at the Rockmaraton Festival in Dunaújváros, Hungary, and the Arena Open Air in Vienna, Austria, due to a case of strep throat. This news came as a let-down to fans who were eagerly anticipating the chance to witness KING DIAMOND’s rare live performances on the continent. This European tour marks his first series of shows there since 2019, making the cancellations a cause for concern among concert-goers. However, KING DIAMOND’s team is optimistic about his quick recovery and assures fans that the frontman will bounce back soon.
Although the two canceled shows caused a slight hiccup, the tour is scheduled to continue as planned, with the next stop being in Bucharest, Romania, at Arenale Romane on July 8th. The tour will then proceed with shows in Sofia and Athens before moving on to Norway and Finland towards the end of July and early August.
Despite the setback, fans of KING DIAMOND have something to look forward to – new music is on the horizon. Guitarist Andy La Rocque provided an update on the band’s upcoming horror-themed concept album, Saint Lucifer’s Hospital 1920, which is the first part of a trilogy. The band began recording before their last U.S. tour and plans to resume work once the European leg concludes. La Rocque described a collaborative and intricate recording process that involves contributions from each band member, showcasing the meticulous attention to detail that goes into creating each track.
Reeder, the mastermind behind Metal Addicts, has built a vibrant online community for metal enthusiasts, driven by his lifelong passion for metal music. With a particular fondness for black metal, Reeder is drawn to its dark, atmospheric, and unconventional soundscapes.
While the cancellations may have disappointed fans, KING DIAMOND’s resilience and commitment to his music shine through. As he recovers from his bout of strep throat, fans can rest assured that they will soon have the chance to witness his spectacular live performances once again.
