Mille-Feuille Anime’s July 17 Debut Revealed in New Video
The premiere date for the anime adaptation of the Harmony of Mille-Feuille music project has been unveiled through a new promotional video released by the show’s staff. Set to debut on July 17, the series will feature a key visual and highlight the theme song “Omoidebanashi,” performed by the cast.
The Harmony of Mille-Feuille anime is scheduled to air on the TOKYO MX channel starting on July 17 at 9:25 p.m. (8:25 a.m. EDT), with subsequent new episodes airing on Thursdays. The show will also be available on various streaming platforms in Japan on the same day. Additionally, BS Fuji will begin broadcasting the series on July 18, with new episodes premiering on Fridays at 24:30 JST (effectively Saturday at 12:30 a.m.). Aniplus-Asia will simulcast the anime as it airs.
Described by Pony Canyon, the anime centers around Uta Komaki, a first-year high school student with numerous weaknesses but a passion for singing. Hoping for a normal high school experience, Uta tries to join the light music club as part of her debut, only to face failure due to her timid nature. However, in her moment of despair, she stumbles upon a form of music called a cappella, which is solely created by the human voice. Within this realm, she discovers a group of girls whose individual imperfections are joined harmoniously through their voices, showcasing that even in obscurity, youth still shines bright.
The main cast of the anime includes Mirai Ayase as Uta Kamaki, Yūko Natsuyoshi as Musubu Mayumori, Kanoko Sudō as Airi Kojō, Misato Matsuoka as Rei “Reirei” Konoe, Miharu Hanai as Urū “Ururu” Miyazaki, and Haruka Aikawa as Yako “Kuma-chan” Kumai. In addition, the new group Parabola features Moeka Koizumi, Asaka, Nao Tōyama, Yoshino Aoyama, and KIYOZO in various roles.
Takuya Satō is the executive director for the anime, with Kiyoto Nakajima serving as the series director at Jumondo. The characters are designed by Chisato Kikunaga and Hitomi Kaiho, while the original concept was conceived by Pony Canyon and game creator Takuya Yamanaka, who also writes the scripts. The project focuses on themes of a cappella, high school girls, and complexity.
Since its launch in April 2022, the Harmony of Mille-Feuille project has expanded into voice drama stories, music videos, and documentary videos, all centered around the story of six high school girls navigating their coming-of-age journey through a cappella music.
