Amy Macdonald surprised fans with a secret set at TRNSMT, performing under the alias Mrs Rock & Roll. The Hangout quickly filled up as eager fans queued outside for a chance to see the talented singer-songwriter in an intimate setting. Dressed casually in cut-off jeans and a sleeveless T-shirt, Amy kicked off her set with the title track of her latest album, “Is This What You’ve Been Waiting For?” The audience wasted no time turning the performance into a massive singalong, setting a jubilant tone for the rest of the set.

Acknowledging the heatwave that festival-goers were enduring, Amy remarked on the “sweaty” conditions before launching into another new track, “The Hudson.” The energy in the tent was palpable, with enthusiastic cheers greeting each song. Despite the sweltering heat, spirits were high as fans enjoyed the sounds of Amy Macdonald under the guise of Mrs Rock & Roll. Songs like “Forward,” “Slow It Down,” “Can You Hear Me,” “Pride,” and “This Is the Life” rounded off the set, leaving the audience buzzing.

TRNSMT guests were treated to a diverse lineup of artists, including headliners Biffy Clyro, Underworld, Fontaines D.C, The Kooks, Inhaler, and Jake Bugg. As music enthusiasts basked in the sunshine, up to 50,000 fans were expected to attend the festival’s upcoming sets headlined by Snow Patrol and Shed Seven. However, despite the enthusiastic performances and cheerful atmosphere, concerns were raised when security guards initially confiscated sun cream at the site entrance due to bottle size and aerosol restrictions.

Following feedback and the warm weather conditions, the festival organizers adjusted their policy to allow fans to bring sun cream of any size onto the grounds. Free sun cream was also made available at help and welfare points throughout the festival, ensuring that attendees could stay protected from the sun’s rays. Amidst these changes and the vibrant music scene, festival-goers like Claire Monaghan, a 21-year-old media and communications graduate from Balloch, reveled in the community spirit and the exceptional lineup of artists.

TRNSMT provided a platform for music lovers to come together, enjoy live performances, and make lasting memories amidst the Scottish summer heat. From surprise sets by renowned artists like Amy Macdonald to the friendly atmosphere and diverse musical offerings, the festival proved to be a highlight for attendees like Claire, who cherished the local experience and the opportunity to celebrate music with fellow fans.
