Molly Tuttle is preparing to unveil her new solo album entitled So Long Little Miss Sunshine on August 15 through Nonesuch Records. One of the tracks from this highly anticipated project is “The Highway Knows,” which was created in collaboration with renowned producer Jay Joyce. This forthcoming full-length album represents a significant departure from Tuttle’s previous work as she explores a fusion of pop, country, rock, and flat-picking genres, culminating in a murder ballad to add depth to the collection. The album notably showcases Tuttle’s exceptional guitar skills more prominently than before, with the introduction of banjo playing on two of the tracks for the very first time.

During the album’s recording process, Tuttle collaborated with talented drummer/percussionists Jay Bellerose and Fred Eltringham, bassist Byron House, and multi-instrumentalist Jay Joyce. Notably, Ketch Secor from Old Crow Medicine Show contributed to the album by playing banjo, fiddle, harmonica, and lending his vocals for background harmonies. A considerable portion of the LP’s content is the result of a collaborative effort with Secor, who holds a dual role as Tuttle’s creative partner.

Tuttle shares her sentiments about the new project, expressing her excitement about creating an album she has long aspired to make. Despite feeling apprehensive about taking such a significant departure from her established sound, the outcome of the album, as reflected in ‘The Highway Knows,’ is a testament to her musical evolution. The fusion of different genres and sounds within the album reflects Tuttle’s willingness to experiment creatively, resulting in a project that she is immensely proud of.

Fans got an early preview of the album last month with the release of the lead single, “That’s Gonna Leave A Mark,” accompanied by an engaging music video. The song has already garnered considerable success, currently holding the second spot on the Americana Radio charts, marking a career milestone for Tuttle as it debuts on the AAA Radio Chart this week.

Tuttle has been selected as the US Ambassador for Spotify’s EQUAL program this July. The initiative is designed to amplify the voices of women who are making significant breakthroughs in the music industry and beyond.

The tracklist for So Long Little Miss Sunshine includes a total of twelve songs, each contributing to the album’s eclectic blend of musical styles and storytelling themes. Through this project, Tuttle showcases her versatility as a musician and her willingness to push boundaries creatively, resulting in a body of work that promises to captivate audiences with its unique sonic identity.
