18th Annual Jeongnamjin Jangheung Water Festival Scheduled for July 26- August 3

The 18th Jeongnamjin Jangheung Water Festival is set to take place from July 26 to August 3 at the Tamjin River Waterfront Park and the Pyeonbaek Forest Woodland area. This festival, which has earned a reputation as the top summer event, will kick off with the Battle of Salsu street parade on July 26.

Starting at 1 p.m. at the Jangheung-gun Community Center, the Salsu Battle Street Parade will lead participants to the largest water fight on land at the festival hall. This exciting event will feature water performances by Jangheung-gun residents, tourists, and international performance teams in the Jungang-ro area. Everyone is invited to join in the parade and become a part of the celebration.

The Songkran performance team and the African percussion performance team, Anja Po, will add to the excitement of the parade. At the Jangheung Water Festival, attendees can engage in various activities ranging from the largest water fight on land to underwater tug-of-war, Jangheung water beat, and catch the golden water ring.

The festival’s main attraction, the biggest water fight on land, will take place daily from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Participants can enjoy warm-up exercises, pre-boom dance performances, and a water fight with DJ music. Water cannons, balloons, and guns will create a lively atmosphere during this event.

This year, a children-only water playground will be available for young attendees. Equipped with facilities like an underwater soccer field, maze, slide, and swimming pool, this area will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Each day from July 26 to August 3, there will also be a golden fish catching activity at 3 p.m., providing entertainment for festival-goers.

Various water activities are available for visitors to enjoy on the Tamjin River, including wooden boats, banana boats, and peanut boats. Additionally, several performances will enhance the festival atmosphere. On July 31, the Jangheung Rock Festival will feature top Korean rock bands like Yoon Do-hyun Band, Yuk Joong-wan Band, Novrain, and Crack Shot.

From August 1 to 2, an intense EDM party will take place, featuring DJ Muse, Pentagon-Kino, DJ Kim Sung-soo (Cool), and X-Love from 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Other stage programs, including the Jeongnamjin River Music Festival, Jangheung POP Concert, and KBC Celebration Performance, will be part of the festival’s entertainment lineup.

To enjoy fun water activities, nutritional supplements are vital. Jangheung, the festival’s location, offers a wide array of delicious foods due to its natural surroundings. The festival will feature Jangheung’s three-piece festival, showcasing local specialties like beef, scallops, and mushrooms. Furthermore, the Slush Festa will offer slushies made from Jangheung’s unique ingredients, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Attendees can look forward to exchanging receipts for gift certificates during the festival, as well as visiting a Pokémon Go pop-up store, and enjoying a night stage and food market with local vendors.
