The Mt. Morris Jamboree is excited to welcome back the Chicago Tribute Anthology to the Bandshell stage for a fantastic two-hour concert on July 25, starting at 7 p.m. Enthusiasts of rock ‘n roll may recall the emergence of a remarkable new band in 1969 that quickly gained widespread fame. Hailing from the Midwest, the “Chicago Transit Authority”, or CTA, as it was commonly known, broke into the music scene with a self-titled debut album that reached double platinum status. Featuring iconic tracks like Beginnings, Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?, and Question 67 & 68, the band’s unique blend of jazz, blues, and Latin influences captured audiences’ hearts.

Led by the exceptionally talented guitarist Terry Kath, Chicago, formerly known as CTA, released their second album in 1970. Chicago 2, as it was called, marked a significant turning point for the band and became another platinum-selling record, featuring hits such as Make me Smile; Colour My World; and 25 or 6 to 4. Throughout the 1970s, Chicago asserted its dominance in the music industry by consistently releasing new albums each year. The era was defined by timeless classics like Free, Saturday in the Park, and Just You ‘n Me, among many others.

Revered for their musical prowess and distinctive sound, CTA pays homage to Chicago’s ‘Golden Age’ by faithfully recreating the magic of the first 11 albums. Comprising talented members, including Tom Anderson, Paul Bata, and Chuck Parrish, among others, the band ensures audiences experience these iconic songs just as they remember them. Furthermore, attendees of the concert can look forward to a variety of food options from St. James Lutheran Church and P.E.O. Chapter CU, offering delectable treats from BBQ to homemade pies, with proceeds supporting local and global charitable causes. The event will also feature refreshments like root beer floats and ice cream, catering to all taste buds.

In addition to the music and food, Ewe and Me Acres will set up a fresh produce stand, along with craft and plant vendors, creating a vibrant atmosphere on the Historic Campus. Visitors are encouraged to bring their blanket or lawn chair to ensure a comfortable viewing experience on the Wesley Avenue Campus, situated just two blocks south of Illinois Route 64. Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy a nostalgic evening of classic rock music in the charming setting of Mt. Morris.
