Steve Hackett discusses new album, Genesis, and Les Paul guitars
Steve Hackett, a renowned guitarist, gained fame as a member of the iconic band Genesis. In the 1970s, Hackett found his way into the progressive rock group after responding to an ad in Melody Maker. After spending seven years with Genesis, he departed in 1978 to pursue a solo career, releasing his debut album.
His latest live record, titled The Lamb Stands Up Live At The Royal Albert Hall, was launched on July 11th in honor of the 50th anniversary of Genesis’s classic album, The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway. This record not only features tracks from his time with Genesis but also includes some of his personal favorites from his solo discography. For enthusiasts, there is a special edition 2CD+Blu-ray Digipak with 5.1 Surround Sound and additional interview content. Moreover, a deluxe 4LP 180g boxset vinyl version is available, accompanied by a 12-page booklet of photos from the performance.
To promote the album, Hackett has scheduled three shows in New York. He is set to perform at the State Theatre of Ithaca on Oct. 4, the Kleinhans Music Hall in Buffalo on Oct. 5, and The Town Hall in New York City on Oct. 22. Before his upcoming performances, Hackett shared insights with NYS’s Michael Singer about his latest record, his journey with Genesis, and his admiration for Les Paul guitars.
