Hanabie reveals latest track “Karu Garu Everyday!!” on Metal Insider
Harajuku-based group Hanabie recently introduced their newest single, entitled “Karu Garu Everyday!!,” which serves as the official theme song for the freshly launched anime series Araiguma Calcal-dan. Their upcoming performance at Warped Tour Long Beach on Saturday, the 26th, and Sunday, the 27th, marks an exciting opportunity for fans to witness their vibrant and energetic live show.
Yukina, the band’s vocalist, shared her thoughts on the new track, mentioning that after listening to it post-recording, she found it to be a delightful mix of cuteness, emotional depth, and a touch of surrealism. She emphasized the song’s ability to encompass a wide range of emotions, creating a perfect blend of chaos that elicited laughter from the band members. With the TV anime’s laid-back and enjoyable atmosphere, the integration of the song as its theme felt like a seamless fit. Yukina expressed her hopes for the track to serve as a motivational anthem for their fans, providing the energy and drive needed to tackle each day.
Matsuri, the group’s guitarist/vocalist, explained that “Karu Garu Everyday!!” was specifically crafted for the anime series. It was an exciting challenge for Matsuri to develop a full-length track from a 29-second version, but the end result was incredibly satisfying. The song beautifully combines Hanabie’s quirky musical style with the show’s upbeat and adorable vibes. Matsuri expressed his desire for the track to offer support and positivity to listeners in their daily lives.
Hettsu, the band’s bassist, revealed that their goal for the song was to create an irresistibly catchy and addictive tune that would stay with listeners long after hearing it. He highlighted the initial “Fure Fure (Go Go)” chant at the beginning of the track, which he believed would instantly capture the audience’s attention. Extending the song from its original anime version to a full-length release allowed them to enhance certain elements, such as adding a powerful final chorus. Hettsu encouraged fans to give it a listen and experience the grandeur of the track’s concluding moments.
Chika, the band’s drummer, aimed to capture the essence of the “Araiguma Calcal-dan” characters in her drumming for the theme song. Her focus was on emulating the unique, laid-back, and humorous personalities of the characters who aspire to achieve world domination. Incorporating cute and slightly pop elements along with a sense of grandeur, Chika paid close attention to the final section of the song, where she utilized a reverb effect on the snare drum to create a distinctive and impactful sound.
