is former love affair as the reason for his departure.

In a statement to People in 2021, Buckingham claimed that Nicks gave the band an ultimatum, leading to his exit.

“Stevie basically gave the band an ultimatum that either I had to go or she would go. It would be like Jagger saying, ‘Well, either Richards has to go, or I’m going to go.’”

However, Nicks responded to these claims in 2023, refuting the allegations and stating that she did not demand Buckingham’s firing. She explained that she proactively removed herself from the band as she considered the situation to be toxic to her well-being, choosing to leave of her own accord.

“I did not demand he be fired. Frankly, I fired myself. I proactively removed myself from the band and a situation I considered to be toxic to my well-being. I was done. If the band went on without me, so be it.”

After this incident, the once inseparable Buckingham and Nicks seemed to have parted ways, with Nicks revealing that the last time she spoke to Buckingham was at a celebration of life for Christine McVie, a fellow Fleetwood Mac member. Their interaction lasted only about three minutes.

While the details of their relationship have captured the attention of fans and the media for decades, the possibility of a collaboration between the two iconic musicians has reignited excitement within the music industry.

The recent sighting of a billboard above Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles teasing a reissue of their debut album, Buckingham Nicks, has sparked speculation about a potential album release. Originally released in 1973, the billboard featured the album’s original cover and hinted at a possible release date of September 19.

Despite the lack of official confirmation from Nicks and Buckingham, the anticipation for new music from the former duo remains high among their dedicated fan base.

Looking back at their history, the relationship between Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham dates back to the 1960s when they first met during their senior year of high school. Over the years, the two musicians attended the same college, dropped out together to pursue music, and eventually formed the band Fritz in the late 60s. While their romantic relationship came to an end in 1976, their musical partnership continued as they wrote songs about each other and delivered memorable performances during their time with Fleetwood Mac.

Now, with the possibility of a new album on the horizon, fans eagerly await further announcements from Nicks and Buckingham regarding the potential reunion and collaboration between these iconic musicians.
