Paradise Lost, the legendary British gothic metal band, is set to headline the final day of the ASTRA Rock Festival 2025, an event scheduled to take place at the ASTRA Open Air Museum in Sibiu from August 15-17. With a career spanning over three decades and more than two million albums sold, Paradise Lost has solidified its position as the reigning kings of dark metal. Emerging from Halifax in 1988, the band quickly made a name for itself as a pioneer of gothic metal with their initial releases.

Over the years, Paradise Lost has delved into various musical genres, starting from their doom-death origins with albums like “Gothic” in 1991. They then transitioned into mainstream metal, capturing audiences with albums such as “Icon” from 1993 and “Draconian Times” from 1995. As they evolved, they incorporated experimental electronic elements into their music, influencing a wide range of diverse artists such as Cradle Of Filth, HIM, Gatecreeper, and Chelsea Wolfe.

The band is set to release their 17th studio album, titled “Ascension,” on September 19, featuring a collection of 10 new songs that traverse their musical repertoire. Ranging from heavy metal to melodic tunes, the album maintains the band’s signature melancholic undertones. At the ASTRA Rock Festival 2025, Paradise Lost will showcase their hit songs that have garnered them worldwide acclaim, giving Romanian fans a chance to experience both classic tracks and sounds from the upcoming album.

Joining the lineup of bands scheduled to perform at the festival are Dog Eat Dog, Cemetery Skyline, Subcarpați, SPP, The Mono Jacks, Mihail, Niște Băieți, E-An-Na, and Machiavellian God. The festival promises a family-friendly environment, offering workshops and activities for all ages centered around traditional play and creativity. Additionally, attendees can explore traditional crafts, engage with specialists from the ASTRA Museum, and learn about sustainable development and heritage preservation.

Tickets for the three-day festival are currently available for purchase on the official website, with day passes also offered at a set price. Subscribers to the ASTRA Museum can enjoy discounted tickets while gaining access to both the festival and museum activities happening over the weekend. Children under 12 can attend for free when accompanied by a paying adult.

The ASTRA Rock Festival is a collaborative effort organized by the ASTRA Museum, the Sibiu County Council, and the Rock Culture Association, with funding from the Ministry of Culture. It aims to provide a holistic experience that celebrates music, heritage, and sustainable practices.
