Swedish metal powerhouse Sabaton has officially disclosed details about their upcoming album titled “Legends,” scheduled for release on October 17 under their new label, Better Noise Music. This highly anticipated album follows the success of their 2022 record, “The War to End All Wars,” which not only delved deeper into their World War I series but also made it onto the list of the year’s top metal albums.

Remaining true to their storytelling origins, “Legends” will once again be a concept album. However, unlike their previous two albums that focused on the horrors of the Great War, this time around Sabaton has widened their historical scope. “Legends” draws inspiration from myths and influential figures throughout different eras, skillfully blending historical accuracy with their signature musical firepower.

The album features captivating narratives surrounding figures like Vlad the Impaler, the real-life influence behind Dracula, the legendary warrior Joan of Arc, and the mysterious Knights Templar. These are just a few of the iconic figures that will grace the record, immersing listeners into some of the most legendary tales in global military history.

To coincide with the album announcement, Sabaton has released two new singles, “The Duelist” and “Lightning at the Gates.” Frontman Joakim reflected on the significance of legends in the band’s music and how their previous album, “Heroes,” paved the way for this new chapter in their musical journey.

“The Duelist” recounts the tale of Miyamoto Musashi, a renowned Japanese swordsman famous for his unparalleled dueling skills, often triumphing in over sixty battles, sometimes against multiple opponents or elite samurai. The track encapsulates his journey through combat and philosophy, reflecting the ethos that defined his legacy.

“Lightning at the Gates” charges headfirst into the mountains with Hannibal Barca, a celebrated strategist from ancient times. The song captures Hannibal’s leadership and his daring feat of crossing the Alps with war elephants, a bold maneuver that continues to astonish military historians.

The unveiling of the album’s tracklist provides a glimpse into the historical themes Sabaton aims to explore in “Legends.” Titles such as “Templars,” “Hordes of Khan,” and “A Tiger Among Dragons” hint at the diverse and captivating content awaiting fans.

In addition to the album release, Sabaton is gearing up for The Legendary Tour, set to kick off in the fall and featuring an orchestral accompaniment. The tour promises to deliver a theatrical experience that will elevate their performance to new heights, captivating audiences across Europe until mid-December.

Fans can now pre-order “Legends” in various formats, including vinyl editions, CDs, cassettes, and digital copies. Additionally, an exclusive Storyteller Edition is available for pre-order with the Earbook or Digibook.

With “Legends,” Sabaton continues their tradition of enthralling storytelling through music, inviting listeners on a compelling journey through time and history. This forthcoming album promises to be a monumental addition to their discography, solidifying their status as one of metal’s most innovative and captivating acts in the contemporary music scene.
