Swedish band SLUTAVVERKNING, known for their unique fusion of noise-rock, punk, and acid-jazz, is set to release a new EP titled “Skräp” on September 5th. Their previous EP “Skruva, spika, hamra” and debut album “Levande Charader” showcased their avant-garde style. The band, formed in 2018, consists of Pelle Andersson, Jon Ekström, and Marcus Källström, with Per Wiberg and Isak Hedtjärn joining later. This new EP dives deeper into their experimental and unpredictable sound.

“Skräp” captures a raw and unfiltered evolution of their music without compromising on the edginess that defines their style. The lead track, “Den mänskliga vredens arkitekter,” delves into themes of outsourced violence and human disposal. The lyrics, written by Jon Ekström, paint a vivid picture of a sinister industry disguised as a domestic service. It reflects a dark and absurd narrative about waste management through fear, drawing inspiration from societal issues and Ekström’s reflections on current events and media consumption.

Each band member’s contribution adds a unique layer to the EP’s sonic landscape. Jon Ekström’s commitment to portraying his character with grotesque intensity adds depth to the lyrical themes. Isak Hedtjärn’s haunting clarinet and saxophone performances bring an eerie elegance to the chaotic mix, while Per Wiberg’s bass lines add melodic textures to the overall sound. The EP’s production retains a raw and unpolished quality, emphasizing the band’s unapologetic approach to their music.

The EP’s title, “Skräp,” meaning “trash” in English, reflects the band’s intention to reclaim and repurpose societal issues into a statement. SLUTAVVERKNING remains true to their signature style – jagged, politically charged, and unnerving – but “Skräp” showcases a tighter and more volatile sound. It encapsulates the essence of their earlier works while exploring new dimensions of their noise-jazz-punk fusion.

Scheduled for release on limited 7” vinyl and digital platforms, “Skräp” promises to push the boundaries of SLUTAVVERKNING’s experimental sound further into the realms of absurdity and discomfort. The EP represents a culmination of the band’s growth and experimentation, distilling the spirit of their previous works into a cohesive and impactful musical statement. Stay tuned for the release of “Skräp” and experience the raw, unapologetic energy of SLUTAVVERKNING like never before.
