Tame Impala releases new single ‘End Of Summer’
Tame Impala has made a strong comeback with the release of their newest single titled ‘End Of Summer’, a seven-minute track that marks the project’s first standalone music in two years. The anticipation for the new single was built up on social media in the days leading up to its release on Friday, July 25th, with a caption hinting at its length, encouraging fans to free up seven minutes of their time. Clocking in at seven minutes and 13 seconds, ‘End Of Summer’ is now the second-longest Tame Impala single, following 2015’s ‘Let It Happen’, which runs at 7:46.
Kevin Parker, the creative force behind Tame Impala, announced the new track’s arrival on social media by stating, “A new era begins. This is the first thing I want you guys to hear.” His message to fans also included a traditional suggestion to listen to the music on their favorite sound system. Along with the single, a music video directed by Julian Klincewicz has been unveiled. The video, spanning nine and a half minutes, was shot in various unmentioned locations, with Parker humorously revealing that they went to “a place even dustier than my drum sounds” to film it.
Tame Impala’s fourth studio album, The Slow Rush, was released in February 2020, right before the global COVID-19 crisis took hold. Despite facing delays in its supporting tour due to the pandemic, the album still managed to debut at number one on the ARIA Albums Chart and achieve Platinum certification. Since The Slow Rush, Kevin Parker has been active in collaborating with other artists. Notably, he has worked on singles with acts such as The Streets, Diana Ross, Gorillaz, Thundercat, and Justice. In 2024, Parker contributed as a producer and songwriter on Dua Lipa’s album Radical Optimism in collaboration with Danny L. Harle.
Dua Lipa, in turn, has welcomed Parker as a special guest during her performances post the release of Radical Optimism. Notably, Parker played guitar on ‘Houdini’ during Lipa’s headlining set at Glastonbury in 2024 and joined her onstage in Melbourne earlier this year to perform Tame Impala’s 2015 hit ‘The Less I Know The Better’. The latter track has recently been recognized, securing the 15th spot in the triple j Hottest 100 Of Australian Songs.
As of now, details about Tame Impala’s fifth studio album or upcoming tour remain undisclosed. However, fans can catch Parker on Justice’s debut arena tour of Australia in December 2025, where he is expected to deliver DJ sets and possibly perform live renditions of ‘One Night/All Night’ and ‘Neverender’ with the duo. Stay tuned for more updates from Tame Impala in the future.
