Teenagers enjoy colorful fun at Inverclyde’s inaugural youth color run
The youth of Inverclyde showcased their summer spirit by participating in a vibrant color run at Rankin Park in Greenock. Approximately 20 teenagers joined forces in what is presumed to be the region’s inaugural youth color run, adding a burst of energy to their sunny day activities.
The Youth Work Service in Inverclyde introduced a unique twist to the school holidays, introducing a kaleidoscope of color to Rankin Park as adolescents engaged in a playful race amidst clouds of paint. At four colorful stations, participants found themselves completely drenched in a spectrum of chalk powders, with some opting for white overalls to shield their attire from the colorful aftermath.
The color run marked the culmination of a day filled with outdoor games and BBQs thoughtfully organized by youth leaders as part of their summer activity schedule. Michael Adamson, the team lead for Inverclyde’s Youth Work Service, expressed enthusiasm for future events, hoping to attract more young participants in the coming years.
An initiative aimed at keeping youngsters engaged and entertained during the school break, the event presented adolescents with a fresh and exciting experience. Through a consultation held prior to summer, young Inverclyde residents had expressed interest in outdoor and sporting events, prompting the organizers to offer a variety of engaging activities over the six-week break.
The organizers emphasized inclusivity by making sure their events were accessible to all children, ensuring that no one felt left out. In a bid to support participants with additional needs, youth workers accompanied them throughout the run and extended invitations to parents to witness their children in action.
In their commitment to providing a memorable summer experience, the Inverclyde Youth Work Service continues to offer a range of activities for the youth. Their efforts to engage young people through fun and innovative events have solidified their position as an integral part of the community, dedicated to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to create lasting memories during the summer months.
