for how we could best utilize the space to illustrate the song about a disintegrating relationship, and Simon helped us realize the concept. I particularly like that I’m hardly in the video, and the song’s narrative is beautifully acted by our actors George Grant, Rebecca Tervit, and Philip Serfaty. It’s certainly a departure from other videos I’ve made, and it’s nice to not have to look at myself for a change.”

The founder of Beyond Light, Simon Reed, explains, “Prior to building our immersive studio, we cut our teeth as designers producing content and augmented physical and digital stage set backdrops for TV programs and commercials. The new studio equipped with 360-degree digital projection seemed to be a natural visual canvas to create atmosphere for Luke and Jason’s vision and storytelling for this track.”

‘Breathe’ is a power ballad that embodies the essence of Thunder classics like ‘Love Walked In’ while also showcasing the diverse nature of the upcoming album as exemplified by its previous singles ‘Walking On Water’, ‘Natural High’, and ‘Snakeskin Parachute’.

The making of the ‘Breathe’ video took place in a visually captivating immersive environment crafted by Lightfield London and their subsidiary, Beyond Light. They specialize in designing innovative sensory spaces for healthcare environments to reduce stress and assist in the recovery of patients, especially children who may find hospital settings intimidating.

Luke Morley opens up about the genesis of the video:

“When I wrote ‘Breathe’, it struck me as a powerful ballad, similar to songs I had penned before. Upon sharing the new album with close friends, each one singled out this particular track for its strength.

I had the great fortune of collaborating on the video with my friend Simon Reed, who had recently launched Beyond Light, a venture dedicated to constructing and designing immersive spaces. Initially unsure of what this entailed, Simon likened it to the ‘holodeck on Star Trek’. Recognizing the broader applications of such technology, I was thrilled to incorporate the immersive space into the video-making process.

Working with director Jason Joyce, we devised a concept to best utilize the space, portraying the thematic essence of the song about a deteriorating relationship. Simon’s expertise helped bring our vision to life. I appreciate the fact that I have minimal presence in the video, allowing the skilled performances of our actors – George Grant, Rebecca Tervit, and Philip Serfaty – to narrate the song beautifully. It represents a departure from my previous works and offers a refreshing change.”

The song ‘Breathe’ is now available on all major streaming platforms. UK tour dates have also been announced, with performances scheduled in various cities across the country. More information and the option to pre-order the album ‘Walking On Water’ can be found on Luke Morley’s official website.
