The Vilar Performing Arts Center has recently announced an exciting new initiative called Love for the Locals, which aims to offer exceptional experiences at great value to the community. Replacing the Underground Sound series, Love for the Locals will feature year-round performances, flexible ticket bundles, and community-focused perks.

According to Cameron Morgan, the Executive Director at the Vilar, Love for the Locals reflects the venue’s dedication to the local community by providing accessible opportunities for people to come together and enjoy live performing arts. The performances are designed to be social and community-building, with an emphasis on creating shared experiences. Owen Hutchinson, the Artistic Director at the Vilar, noted that the programming will showcase a mix of emerging and established artists that resonate with the heart of the mountain community. These performances will build on the legacy of the Underground Sound series and celebrate the creativity, authenticity, and unique spirit of the valley.

The Love for the Locals initiative introduces new ticket package options that span the full year, unlike the fall-only packages offered under the previous series. The “Pick 3” and “Pick 5” bundles will provide discounts of 10% and 15%, respectively, when purchasing multiple shows together. Community members can now easily experience a variety of performances throughout the season at reduced rates. Each Love for the Locals ticket comes with a complimentary draft beer, wine, or non-alcoholic beverage while supplies last. Some shows will feature live pre-show music by local musicians in the lobby, enhancing the immersive community experience.

The inaugural performances under the Love for the Locals series cover a range of genres, including blues, bluegrass, rock, and comedy. The lineup features a dynamic mix of artists, both well-known and up-and-coming, that promise to captivate audiences with their talent and regional appeal. From Devon Allman’s Blues Summit to Keller Williams’ Grateful Grass, the series seeks to offer something for everyone.

In addition to the announced performances, the Vilar Performing Arts Center plans to unveil more shows throughout the year, highlighting the diverse artistic landscape of the mountain community. Love for the Locals is a key part of the Vilar’s mission to increase access to the performing arts for local residents. Through initiatives like the Community Arts Access program, STARS matinee performances for students, and arts education programs, the Vilar aims to inspire and engage audiences of all ages.

For those interested in attending Love for the Locals performances and purchasing tickets, more information is available on the Vilar Performing Arts Center website or by contacting the box office directly. Don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity to experience extraordinary live performances and engage with the vibrant artistic community in the mountains.
