New video demonstrates Legion Go 2 surpassing MSI Claw A8 in benchmark test
Lenovo had teased us with the Legion Go 2 during CES 2025, but details about an official release date are still pending. However, a new video featuring a prototype model of the handheld console has emerged, showcasing its potential for delivering remarkable gaming performance. The footage, posted on the YouTube channel Lines Tech and reported by Notebook Check, displays the Legion Go 2 running Shadow of the Tomb Raider, a popular benchmark game in PC performance tests. Equipped with an AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor and boasting an OLED display, the Legion Go 2 maintained an average of 49 frames per second at 1080p resolution, with 7,710 frames rendered. As per Notebook Check, this benchmark test likely utilized DirectX 12 with frame generation disabled, all on medium graphic settings.
In comparison, the video also showcased the MSI Claw A8, another handheld console housing an AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme chip but lacking an OLED panel. The MSI Claw A8 achieved an average frame rate of 44 fps, with 6,751 frames generated under equivalent graphics settings for Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Interestingly, the Legion Go 2 outperformed the MSI Claw A8 by 10% in terms of frame rates, at least based on this particular video demonstration.
