On the horizon for Metallica in the coming year is another leg of their M72 World Tour in Europe and the UK. This tour will include special guests such as Gojira, Pantera, Knocked Loose, and Avatar. Metallica is set to perform in various cities including London, Cardiff, Dublin, Berlin, Bucharest, and Athens, among others. The band will be playing a total of 16 shows across 9 countries, with select cities offering the unique “No Repeat Weekend” format for two shows.

Aside from their upcoming tour, Metallica has exciting news with the launch of their own SiriusXM channel called Maximum Metallica. Drummer Lars Ulrich shared this exciting update on The Howard Stern Show. The new channel, set to go live on August 29, will feature not only a continuous stream of Metallica’s music but also rare interviews, live recordings, and tracks from artists and bands who have influenced Metallica throughout their career.

To celebrate the channel’s launch, Metallica will be playing an intimate club show at Stephen Talkhouse in Amagensett, New York on August 28. Tickets for this special show will be up for grabs through a lottery system. Additionally, Lars revealed that the band is strongly considering an appearance at Sphere in Las Vegas. Metallica’s tour production crew has visited the venue, and plans are in motion for a potential residency at Sphere in 2027 following their 2026 stadium tour in Europe and the UK.

On a grander scale, Metallica has its sights set on performing at the 2026 Super Bowl Halftime Show at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. While nothing is confirmed yet, Lars expressed the band’s interest in returning to the stadium where they recently performed. Metallica is currently celebrating the success of their eleventh studio album “72 Seasons,” released in April 2023. The album, produced by Greg Fidelman alongside James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich, marked Metallica’s first full-length release of new material since 2016.

The band received a GRAMMY® Award nomination for Best Rock Album for “72 Seasons” and won Best Metal Performance for the title track. Metallica’s legacy is further solidified by new RIAA certifications for their iconic albums “The Black Album” and “Master of Puppets.” “The Black Album” achieved a 20x platinum certification, while “Master of Puppets” reached 8x platinum. These certifications underscore Metallica’s enduring influence and the lasting impact of their music.

With their unparalleled success and continuous innovation, Metallica’s future looks as promising as ever. Their dedication to their craft and their fans ensures that they will remain a dominant force in the world of music for years to come.
