Indie/rock band Pale Waves from the UK have unveiled dates for their UK and Ireland tour, with a twist this time around.

2024 saw the release of Pale Waves’ fourth album, ‘Smitten’. Over the past decade, the band has traveled globally, even making a stop in Australia in 2023. With more than 200 UK performances under their belt, the band’s upcoming tour includes dates in various cities such as Sunderland, Stoke-On-Trent, Manchester, Cardiff, and more.

Formed in 2014 in Manchester, Pale Waves consists of singer and guitarist Heather Baron Gracie and drummer Ciara Doran. Initially known as Creek, they later rebranded as Pale Waves and signed with Dirty Hit, the same label as The 1975. Their music combines synth-pop with gothic undertones, drawing comparisons to The Cranberries and Dolores O’Riordan.

The band’s debut album featured ’80s-inspired indie and synth-pop, with singles like “There’s a Honey” and “Television Romance” reaching number 8 on the UK Albums Chart. Pale Waves’ second album showcased influences from early 2000s pop rock and pop punk, reflecting Avril Lavigne, Michelle Branch, Kelly Clarkson, and Courtney Love. Tracks like “Change”, “You Don’t Own Me”, and “She’s My Religion” explored themes of identity and queer love.

Produced alongside Zakk Cervini, Pale Waves’ third record, ‘Unwanted’, delved deeper into pop punk territory, reminiscent of Paramore’s style. Tracks such as “Unwanted”, “Lies”, and “Numb” featured high energy choruses and emotional lyricism, with occasional critiques of lyrical clichés.

Their latest album, ‘Smitten’, released in September 2024, sees Pale Waves returning to a reflective alt-pop sound. The lead single, “Perfume”, combines dreamy guitar melodies and gothic vocals, reminiscent of The Cranberries. Tracks like “Miss America”, “Thinking About You”, and “Seeing Stars” have been praised for their emotional depth and ’80s pop craftsmanship.

Pale Waves’ live performances are a key part of their growth, with the band headlining UK tours in support of their albums. As they prepare for their “Still Smitten Tour” in October 2025, the band seeks to connect with fans in less-explored areas, emphasizing their bond beyond major cities.

The band’s evolution from glittery synth-driven pop to emotive guitar hooks showcases their unique blend of nostalgia and modernity. Heather’s sincerity in exploring themes of queer romance and personal growth, complemented by atmospheric visuals, highlights Pale Waves’ authenticity and evolving style.

In conclusion, Pale Waves’ fusion of dreamy pop with punk energy and emotional storytelling has solidified their place in the UK indie and rock scene. As they continue to redefine their sound and aesthetic, their impact on the music industry is more profound than ever before.
