Chrissie Hynde collaborates with notable artists for upcoming album ‘Duets Special’

Chrissie Hynde, lead singer of the Pretenders, has collaborated with well-known artists for her upcoming solo album, “Duets Special,” set to be released on October 17. This album features Chrissie joining forces with various artists like Debbie Harry of Blondie, Brandon Flowers from The Killers, Shirley Manson of Garbage, Dan Auerbach from The Black Keys, the late Mark Lanegan of Screaming Trees, k.d. lang, Lucinda Williams, Dave Gahan from Depeche Mode, Julian Lennon, and more. The idea for a duets album was a spontaneous one that came about during a conversation in 2023 between Chrissie and Jörn Weisbrodt, Rufus Wainwright’s husband. Chrissie mentioned the possibility of collaborating with Rufus, and before she knew it, they had come up with a list of 10 songs that sparked the beginning of the project. The prospect of recording a duets album was something new and exciting for Chrissie, who had released her last solo album, “Standing in the Doorway: Chrissie Hynde Sings Bob Dylan,” back in 2021.
