Today Is The Day has revealed their upcoming album, “Never Give In,” as the band’s fourteenth studio release through frontman Steve Austin’s SuperNova Records. This new record will be the first since the debut of their previous album, “No Good to Anyone,” and comes along with an accompanying music video showing the title track’s hallucinogenic visuals.

The band’s hiatus, due to the COVID-19 pandemic interrupting their 2020 tour in support of “No Good to Anyone,” spanned five years. During this break, Austin took charge and resurrected SuperNova Records, reacquiring Today Is The Day’s full back catalog. He has also commenced reissuing the band’s previous works alongside releases by bands like Woorms and Grid failure.

“Never Give In,” exclusively penned by Austin, was recorded at his Austin Enterprise Recording & Mastering studio in Orland, ME. The album is planned as the initial component of a two-album conceptual series, combining the band’s various styles into a cinematic, psychedelic, and metal-induced piece. Notably, guests such as Aaron Polk, David Brenner (of Gridfailure), and Mac Gollehon are featured on select tracks including “Psychic Wound,” “Secret Police,” and “Secret Police.”

The release will be dropped in three formats – LP, CD, and digitally with pre-orders already in motion through SuperNova’s web store and Bandcamp. Fans can anticipate the second segment of the concept to roll out in early 2026. In the meantime, Today Is The Day will be announcing a headline U.S. tour scheduled for early fall, following their recent outing with Buñuel and Murderous Again.

In reflecting on the album’s themes, Austin noted the inspirations for “Never Give In,” highlighting concepts such as isolation, fear, anger, and introspection. Describing the emotional journey encapsulated in the album, he narrated challenging moments of identity crises, political disillusionment, and societal control tactics. From the impact of COVID-19 lockdowns to a broader commentary on mass manipulation, Austin delved into these subjects with raw honesty, unravelling his inner world through music. The pandemic’s effects were deeply felt as he grappled with despair and wrestling back control against external forces.

Ultimately, Austin aims for the musicality of “Never Give In” to be a defiant stance against despair and complacency. The album seems to resonate a collection of sentiments – resistance against authority, quest for personal revelation, and acknowledgment of societal malaise. It encapsulates a narrative of overcoming personal struggles, reclaiming identity, and preserving hope amidst chaos. Austin’s experience encapsulates a profound and raw journey that fans can expect to be emotionally and musically stirring as he brings this album to life with his genuine, stripped-down approach.
