Watch Analise Scarpaci Perform ‘My Own Place in the Pantheon’ From New Musical Mythic
Get a sneak peek behind the scenes of the upcoming pop-rock musical comedy “Mythic” with a newly released video. This musical is set to make its debut at the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park this fall, with previews starting on September 20 and the official opening on September 25. Tony winner Kathleen Marshall will take on the roles of director and choreographer for the U.S. premiere.
The cast of “Mythic” boasts a star-studded lineup featuring Savy Jackson as Aphrodite, Michael Park as Zeus, Mamie Parris as Demeter, Analise Scarpaci as Persephone, and Julius Thomas III as Hades. In the recently released video snippet, Analise Scarpaci can be seen delivering a stunning performance of “My Own Place in the Pantheon” during her first studio session with the creative team behind Mythic.
Alongside the main cast, the ensemble for “Mythic” includes talented performers such as Matthew Samuel Blum, Aaron Gabriel Graham, Alexa Magro, Stephanie Lynne Mason, Owen Scales, Cassidy Stoner, Kodiak Thompson, and Emily Grace Tucker. Josh Devine and Madison Osment will be stepping in as the swings for the production.
The narrative of “Mythic” puts a unique spin on the classic Greek myth of Persephone, transforming the gods into modern-day pop stars, power-hungry politicians, and social media influencers. In this fresh take on the story, Persephone defies her mother Demeter’s wishes and decides to pursue her own path. Her encounter with the enigmatic Hades at a party leads her on an unexpected journey into the Underworld, breaking away from tradition.
The musical features a compelling creative team, with a book and lyrics by Marcus Stevens and music and orchestrations by Oran Eldor. Set design will be handled by David Korins, costumes by Linda Cho, lighting by Kenneth Posner, music supervision by Chris Fenwick, and music direction by Bryson Baumgartel. Doug Besterman will oversee music production, with sound design by John Shivers. The show will be brought to life through associate direction and choreography by David Eggers.
