Year of the Goat Reveals New Album “Trivia Goddess” and Unveils Video for Occult Rock Song
Year of the Goat, a Swedish occult rock band, is set to release their new album, Trivia Goddess on September 12, marking their first album in six years. The band, known for delivering captivating riffs, has built a solid reputation over the years, especially after their critically acclaimed Angels Necropolis album in 2012.
Trivia Goddess, the band’s fourth studio album, breaks away from their initial trilogy of albums and sets a different tone. The band draws inspiration from the darkest moments in women’s history to craft a concept album that narrates the stories of real women who defied religious and patriarchal oppression. Year of the Goat sheds light on these stories, unveiling the struggles of women who stood up against what they describe as the “real structures of evil in the world”.
Accompanying the album announcement is the release of their second single, “The Power of Eve”, following last month’s release of “Alucarda”. The track comes with a visually striking music video directed by Finnish filmmaker Sami Mustonen, which features elaborate sets, choreography, and striking visuals that captivate audiences.
In their statement about the song, the band sheds light on the metaphorical significance of Eve challenging the norm, stating, “Eve challenged the lie uttered by ‘God’ and did not die on that day. The only one who told the truth in the story was the serpent. Eve gave us all the power to see where the true evil lies, it is not with the serpent, satan or Lucifer…”
The album, Trivia Goddess, was mixed by Tom Dalgety at Psalm Studios in Wiltshire, UK, and mastered by Magnus Lindberg. The band describes the album as an amplification of their dark, melodic sound, with heavy influences from late ’60s and ’70s rock music, while also exploring a more sinister tone than ever before.
Fans can now pre-order Trivia Goddess to receive a dose of Year of the Goat’s occult rock vibes and immerse themselves in their signature sound. With their upcoming album, Year of the Goat promises to deliver a potent blend of captivating music that pays homage to the dark moments in history, carried by a unique and spellbinding musical experience.
