Sam Charlesworth, a talented singer-songwriter hailing from Dunedin, has recently released his latest single titled “Are You Okay?” This track follows his previous hit, “Heaven Knows,” and continues to showcase his emotional authenticity and impressive lyrical skills. The single was recorded at Selwynn College, a university hall of residence in Ōtepoti, during Sam’s first year of study. At just 22 years old, Sam Charlesworth, originally from Auckland, is a self-taught musician and producer who has garnered attention across Australasia for his unique songwriting abilities and bedroom recordings. Starting his musical journey at the age of 15, Sam has crafted a distinctive style by blending elements of indie rock, grunge, bedroom pop, and folk music. His track “English Rose” was a finalist in the 2020 Lion Foundation Songwriting Competition, highlighting his talent for creating emotive melodies with strong vocals reminiscent of Dunedin Sound bands.
With a discography that includes over 100 songs and six self-produced albums, Sam’s music, such as “Letters from the Heart,” “The Difference Between,” “Bummertown,” and “The Duality of the Human Mind,” resonates with listeners seeking heartfelt, genre-blending music that speaks to the complexities of the human condition.
