CalaPop Music Festival Announces Dates and Line-Up
CalaPop, a music festival located in the Costa del Sol, is gearing up to celebrate its fifteenth edition. Known for its intimate beachfront concerts on El Charcón Beach in Mijas, this indie pop-rock festival is set to take place on September 19th and 20th. Unlike other mainstream events, CalaPop boasts a unique charm with its small size and big ambitions, offering attendees a refreshing alternative to larger, overcrowded festivals.
With a focus on power-pop, punk, rock & roll, garage, and soul music, CalaPop showcases a diverse lineup of up to ten bands, promising an exceptional live musical experience. The festival, a successor to Fuengirola Pop Weekend, will feature a main stage at El Charcón Beach, with additional activities at Café Teatro, Discoteca Maxy, and Edificio de Colores in Fuengirola. El Charcón Beach, with a limited capacity of 400 people, provides an intimate setting that amplifies the magic of live music performances, enhanced by the backdrop of the Mediterranean Sea and a gentle sea breeze.
The festival’s lineup features a mix of local and international talent, including artists like Ángela Hoodoo, The Speedways from London, rockabilly band The Howlin’ Ramblers from Cadiz, and The Pages from Lisbon. The highlight of the event will be Italian headliner, The Peawees, celebrating thirty years of making music. Other acts include The Laser Society, Pelazo, and Ian Kay, representing various genres ranging from mod revival to garage rock.
Tickets for the two-night event are available for purchase in advance at 50 euros, offering attendees a chance to enjoy a curated selection of independent pop-rock performances. Additionally, a limited number of tickets will be available on-site for 25 euros on Friday and 30 euros on Saturday. For more information and ticket sales, interested attendees can visit calapop.com.
In addition to the music performances, CalaPop will feature DJ sets by Dani Peluso, Toni Fontana, Lucas Bon Vivan, Perroloco Lanuit, and Teddy at El Charcón, followed by late-night festivities at Discoteca Maxy with Belle de Jour, Alberto Fuzz, Ian Kay, and Pepe Kubrick. Café Teatro in Fuengirola will host book presentations by authors like Javier Cosmen and Adolfo Rodríguez, accompanied by musical performances and book signings.
Furthermore, auxiliary activities will be held throughout September, including the exhibition “Alavaroscopio” by Álvaro Ortega at Edificio de Colores in Fuengirola. This art exhibition, along with the music performances and book presentations, promises a holistic cultural experience for attendees to enjoy and immerse themselves in the vibrant atmosphere of CalaPop.
