Wednesday releases new video and teases upcoming album “Bleeds” with “Bitter Everyday”
Wednesday is making a comeback in 2025 after taking a break following their 2023 album Rat Saw God. The band recently announced their new album, Bleeds, and has released some teasers for it. To add to the anticipation, they have unveiled a new single called “Bitter Everyday.”
Karly Hartzman of the group shared the inspiration behind the song, saying it is based on a peculiar encounter in 2019. A woman approached their porch at 3 AM while Jake and Andrew were playing guitars and drinking. She asked if she could sing them a song she had written, displaying an incredible voice. The next morning, Hartzman saw a photo of the same woman on a telephone pole, revealing she was a homeless person wanted for murder and known for her juggalo makeup. The chorus of the song pays homage to Iris DeMent’s “Easy’s Gettin’ Harder Everyday.”
Describing the album, Hartzman stated, “Bleeds is the spiritual successor to Rat Saw God and embodies the essence of ‘Wednesday Creek Rock.’ This album captures the true essence of Wednesday’s sound after years of dedication to perfecting it.”
In addition to the new single, Wednesday has also announced a series of tour dates for 2025, covering various cities in the US and Europe. The tour kicks off with the LEVITATION Festival in Austin, TX, on September 27th and includes stops in cities such as Los Angeles, Chicago, and Detroit, before heading to Europe in early 2026.
Bleeds, set to be released on September 19th via Dead Oceans, promises to deliver the raw and authentic sound that Wednesday has become known for. Fans can expect a blend of storytelling and musical craftsmanship that captures the essence of the band’s unique style. Make sure to catch Wednesday on tour to experience their latest music live and immerse yourself in the world of Bleeds.
