‘Cat in the Hat’ film release delayed to Fall 2026 at Warner Bros.

Warner Bros. Pictures recently announced the postponement of the release date for the animated film “The Cat in the Hat,” featuring Bill Hader as the lead character. Originally scheduled for February 27, 2026, the film will now hit theaters on November 6, 2026. This animated feature marks the debut release under the newly relaunched Warner Bros. Pictures Animation banner.

The star-studded voice cast includes Quinta Brunson from “Abbott Elementary,” Bowen Yang from “SNL,” Xochitl Gomez from “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” Matt Berry from “What We Do in the Shadows,” and Paula Pell from “Girls5eva.” Bill Hader will bring the iconic Cat in the Hat character to life in this whimsical adaptation.

Described as “Meet the Cat in the Hat you don’t know!” by the official logline, the film promises an epic adventure inspired by the timeless charm of Dr. Seuss. Embracing mischief, magic, and mayhem, the animated movie is set to captivate audiences of all ages with its delightful storytelling.

Alessandro Carloni and Erica Rivinoja are the talented duo behind the writing and directing of the film, while Daniela Mazzucato and Jared Stern take on the role of producers. With Susan Brandt and Bill Hader serving as executive producers, DNEG Animation will be responsible for the animation production.

“The Cat in the Hat,” originating in 1957, has endured as a beloved classic, capturing the hearts and imaginations of generations with its playful narrative and the distinctive red and white striped hat. Notably, back in 2003, a live-action version of “The Cat in the Hat” featuring Mike Myers, Dakota Fanning, and Spencer Breslin was released, bringing a new dimension to the beloved tale.
