Billboard Canada introduces Fresh Sounds Canada to showcase the emerging talent in the Canadian music scene. This week’s featured artists include Jade LeMac, ThxSoMch, Kaytranada, Luna Li, and Georgia Harmer.

Jade LeMac, a rising star from Vancouver, gained popularity on TikTok and recently signed a deal with Warner Music Canada. Her debut single, “Constellations,” achieved gold status and she performed at music festivals like Lollapalooza and Osheaga. Her latest single, “Running Home,” is a catchy pop track that explores the theme of security in a relationship, showcasing her talent as a singer-songwriter.

ThxSoMch, known for his surprise chart hit “SPIT IN MY FACE!,” is gearing up for the release of his new album, “The Sound of You Laughing.” His latest single, “Keep It To Yourself,” blends elements of ’90s and 2000s rock with a Gen Z twist, incorporating pop-punk, emo, grunge, and SoundCloud rap influences. The song, co-produced with greyskies, features a unique stop-start melody and a catchy refrain reminiscent of Nirvana.

Montreal producer Kaytranada collaborates with TLC on the track “Do It! (Again!)” from his latest album, “Ain’t No Damn Way!” Sampling TLC’s 1994 hit “Let’s Do It Again,” the song combines nostalgic R&B elements with Kaytranada’s signature production style. Fans can catch Kaytranada on tour with Justice this fall, where he will showcase new material.

Luna Li, a multi-instrumentalist based in Toronto, gained recognition for her solo bedroom jams during the pandemic. Her track “You Didn’t Have To Go” from the reimagined album “When a Thought Grows Wings” highlights her dreamy vocals and musical production. The song features a key change that adds depth and emotion to the track, leaving listeners captivated.

Georgia Harmer, a talented singer-songwriter from Ontario, released her second album, “Eye Of The Storm,” last week. The music video for her song “Slow Down” showcases her pure vocals and poignant songwriting. The track explores the concept of time and the universal experience of feeling like time is slipping away. Harmer’s music runs in the family, with connections to Canadian stars like Sarah Harmer, Mary Harmer, and Gord Tough. She is set to embark on a tour of Canada and the U.S. in the fall, sharing her heartfelt music with audiences across North America.
