What if Vražogrnci outperform Zaječar – Time
The Zaječar Guitar Festival is making some changes and facing challenges as it prepares for the upcoming event. With only two participants still on board, the Organizing Committee decided to shift the location of the festival from Kraljevica to the late antique site Felix Romuliani. Additionally, the entry fee of 300 dinars for the site will also serve as a ticket to the festival.
The festival is scheduled to take place over three days, from September 28 to 30. Although the exact lineup remains undisclosed, the Committee teased that bands from the USA, Italy, Romania, and former Yugoslav republics will perform, with the names being revealed right before the festival’s commencement.
A recent statement from the Committee cited “unprecedented pressures” from competing bands and headliners as the reason for altering the program. These external influences seem to have a political motivation aimed at obstructing this year’s Gitariada. Consequently, the organizers opted not to publicize the band names to shield them from potential abuse by those who fail to grasp the festival’s significance.
The revised roster for the Zaječar Guitarriad features Atomic Shelter and Alen Islamović as the only remaining acts from the initial program. The status of other demo bands remains unknown, though we do know that Diminutiv will not be performing. Several notable bands, such as Fish Soup, Generation 5, Goblini, SARS, and Kerber, have withdrawn from the event.
Meanwhile, the inaugural TočakRock Festival in the village of Vražogrnac is scheduled to kick off on August 24. The festival was organized by the “Association of Residents for the Recovery of the Timo Valley,” aiming to elevate the village’s cultural and artistic scene. The village’s rich musical heritage, coupled with the creativity and groundbreaking contributions of local musicians, including Dejan Najdanović – Najda, inspired the conception of TočakRock.
Demo bands signed up for the festival, but a few dropped out last minute, opting to attend as spectators instead. It will be intriguing to observe and compare the turnout and reception for Vražogrnac’s event against the Zaječar Guitar Festival.
