The Newsboys, famous for their energetic performances, concluded their tour on a disappointing note. Their scheduled appearance at Jærgårds-ROCK festival in Klepp, Norway on August 24 was abruptly canceled, as the band failed to arrive due to logistical issues. The festival organization shared the news through an Instagram post, explaining that the band’s equipment, crew, and members could not be transported to the event.

Despite the cancelation, the Newsboys have not issued any official statements regarding the incident. Interestingly, their website removed the October 24 performance date from the ‘Tour’ page, suggesting that the show will not be rescheduled. This unexpected turn of events left fans bewildered, with some even suggesting alternate travel arrangements for the band.

In response to inquiries from disappointed fans, the festival organizers clarified that all possible options were explored, but it was simply not feasible to arrange an alternative flight for such a large group. The situation was deemed unfortunate for both the band and the festival attendees.

In communication with The Roys Report (TRR), the Newsboys explained that they missed their connecting flight due to delays in London, resulting in their absence at the festival. The band expressed their regret for not being able to perform for their fans in Norway as planned and shared that they were returning to the United States due to the unforeseen circumstances.

The Newsboys’ Norwegian tour cancelation comes in the wake of a series of setbacks, including canceled shows, dwindling radio airplay, and contractual issues. The band faced financial burdens after canceling two shows in the United Kingdom following allegations involving former lead singer Michael Tait. The band’s response to the allegations was notably delayed, with their last public statement released on June 5, expressing their dismay following the accusations against Tait.

Following allegations of a cover-up involving Newsboys management, the band assured TRR that an internal investigation was initiated. The situation remains unresolved, and the band has not paused its operations, indicating a resolve to continue despite the challenges. However, signs of discord within the band’s management became evident with the recent resignation of owner Wes Campbell from the Gospel Music Association board.

Campbell’s management company, established in 1995, has experienced a decline in activity, with several artists silently parting ways with the firm in recent months. The company’s website is currently inactive, displaying only a holding page, and former clients are listed on archive websites. The future of the band and its management remains uncertain following these turbulent developments.
