Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers Set to Drop Upcoming Album
Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers spent five intense weeks at a home studio on NSW’s Central Coast to craft every detail of the album until each song sounded as intended. Working with Marks, the band members, including Scarlett McKahey, Anna Ryan, Jaida Stephenson, and Neve van Boxsel, felt empowered to reject ideas that didn’t fit and encouraged to experiment freely to create the truest version of their sound.
Featuring tracks such as “WATCHING ME LEAVE”, “TURN AROUND”, and “DAYLIGHT,” GLORY captures the essence of confidence, disgust, infatuation, and power within the framework of indie rock that makes you want to strut. The band describes the album as a reflection of the feeling of coming home on the bus after a night out, with smudged mascara and a nearly dead phone battery.
The band’s latest single, “MOTHER,” stands out from their previous releases with its explosive Western-inspired intro and fierce vocals by Scarlett McKahey. The band explains that the song is a tribute to strong women who have been mistreated by deceitful men over the centuries, showcasing the deep-seated rage that arises from observing such injustices.
With more than 450,000 streams on Spotify from their previously released singles, Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers have been steadily climbing the ranks since their debut EP, “Pretty Good for a Girl Band,” in 2022. Their first album, “I Love You,” claimed the sixth spot on the ARIA Charts, while singles like “I Used to Be Fun” and “Dull” garnered attention on the triple j Hottest 100 list.
Having earned accolades such as J Awards, APRA Awards, and Rolling Stone Australia Awards, the band has also opened for prominent acts like Foo Fighters and Pearl Jam in both Australia and the US. Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers have been named one of Spotify’s Artists to Watch, cementing their position as rising stars in the indie rock scene.
GLORY, set to be released on November 7th, is a testament to the band’s growth and evolution, showcasing their unique sound and powerful lyrics. Produced by Catherine Marks, the album is a reflection of the band’s vision, with every vocal, instrumental part, and lyric carefully crafted to convey their message. The tracklist includes songs like “TALKING”, “MINE”, and “BAIT” that promise to captivate listeners with their raw energy and emotional depth. Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers’ GLORY is not only a significant milestone for the band but also a testament to their artistry and dedication to their craft.
