Salem events from Aug. 28 to Sept. 3: Punx in the Park, veteran resource fair
3: A health and wellness fair geared towards veterans and active servicemembers will be held at the Salem YMCA from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Organized by Serving Our Veterans at Home, participants can enjoy free lunch, haircuts, a resume workshop, a job fair, and get referrals for legal assistance, substance abuse counseling, and more. Cherriots is offering complimentary rides to the event, which is conveniently located a block away from the downtown bus station.
For individuals looking for personalized grooming services, there will be a back-to-school haircut event for students organized by Latinos Unidos Siempre on Saturday, August 30. Held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church from 12-5 p.m., students can freshen up their look for the upcoming school year.
Furthering the community spirit, a clothing swap event will take place on Wednesday, September 3, at the Salem Public Library’s main branch. Families can drop off gently used clothes from 10 a.m. to participate in the swap from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Children up to size 6T can find free clothing, with donations being accepted in the Anderson Rooms, A & B.
