Radiohead announces 20 new live dates, marking their return after 7 years
Radiohead is making a comeback after seven years, delighting fans with the announcement of 20 upcoming live shows. Following in the footsteps of Oasis, another iconic British rock band is ready to hit the stage once again.
Comprised of vocalist Thom Yorke, guitarist/keyboardist Jonny Greenwood, guitarist Ed O’Brien, bassist Colin Greenwood, and drummer Phil Selway, Radiohead has scheduled performances in five European cities: Madrid, Bologna, London, Copenhagen, and Berlin. The concerts are set to take place in November and December, with each city hosting the band for four nights.
The band’s last live performance was in 2018, supporting their 2016 album “A Moon Shaped Pool.” While it remains uncertain if Radiohead is working on new material, the group did reveal a new live album titled “Hail to the Thief — Live Recordings 2003-2009,” which is expected to be released on Oct. 31.
In a statement, Selway shared, “Last year, we got together to rehearse, just for the hell of it. After a seven-year pause, it felt really good to play the songs again and reconnect with a musical identity that has become lodged deep inside all five of us. It also made us want to play some shows together, so we hope you can make it to one of the upcoming dates. For now, it will just be these ones but who knows where this will all lead.”
Tickets for the shows can be registered for on Friday and will be available for purchase for 60 hours. The general ticket sale will commence a week later, on Sept. 15.
During Radiohead’s hiatus from touring, the band members pursued various projects. Yorke and Jonny Greenwood collaborated on The Smile, an art rock side project that has released three albums. Colin Greenwood joined Nick Cave’s live band, while O’Brien and Selway both ventured into solo projects. O’Brien released his debut solo album “Earth” in 2020, while Selway dropped his third solo album, “Strange Dance,” in 2023.
As fans eagerly anticipate Radiohead’s return to the live stage, their upcoming performances are sure to be a treat for music lovers across Europe. With a rich catalog of hits and a dedicated fan base, the band’s reunion promises to be an unforgettable experience for all attendees.
