Key issues discussed at accountability meeting of Ioannina Municipality – Morning Report
During a special session scheduled for Wednesday, September 10 at 7 p.m. in the Council Hall, the Municipal Authority of Ioannina will be called upon to address seven issues raised by opposition parties.
The major opposition party is seeking clarification on the occupation of public spaces, particularly benches. Additionally, the “Ioannina New Era” faction, led by Dimitris Papageorgiou, is calling for a discussion on the Ismini Tzavella Mansion, the cultural policy of the Municipal Authority, and the utilization of the city’s cultural potential and artists. They are questioning the reasons behind the discontinuation of the Castle Rock Festival and requesting an assessment of the cultural activities during the summer as well as the support provided to community associations.
The “Ioannina 2023” faction, headed by Tatiana Kalogianni, is seeking information on matters related to the maintenance cost and operational structure of the Pyrsinella Park. Moreover, the “Independent Municipal Vanguard” faction, led by Nikos Gontas, is requesting updates on regular and emergency funding from the Municipality and the distribution methods to Municipal-Local Communities. Additionally, municipal councilor Stefanos Manzios will raise concerns about cleanliness and the issue of bulky and uncontrolled landfills.
Lastly, Pantelis Kolokas, the leader of the “Beautiful Ioannina City” faction, will address the issue of pricing policy regarding water for households and businesses during the accountability session on September 10th. Overall, these various opposition factions are highlighting critical matters that require attention and accountability from the Municipal Authority of Ioannina.
