LL COOL J discuses ‘MTV VMAs’ in UB Spotlight

LL COOL J is set to host the 2025 MTV VMAs, presented by Doritos, marking his first solo hosting stint after previously co-emceeing with Nicki Minaj and Jack Harlow in 2022. The iconic event will be broadcast live from New York’s UBS Arena on Sunday, September 7th, at 8:00 PM ET/5:00 PM PT on the CBS Television Network, MTV, and streaming on Paramount+ in the U.S.

The star-studded lineup of presenters includes Ciara, Ashlee Simpson Ross, Brittany Snow, and “KPop Demon Hunter’s” EJAE. LL COOL J, a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee and hip-hop pioneer, has a rich history with the VMAs. He won his first Moon Person in 1991 for Best Rap and was the first rapper to receive the Video Vanguard Award in 1997.

Throughout the years, LL COOL J has delivered memorable performances at the VMAs, such as celebrating Def Jam Recording’s 40th Anniversary with a surprise appearance by Public Enemy in 2024. In 2023, he marked the 50th anniversary of hip hop with an all-star tribute. This year, LL COOL J’s single “Murdergram Deaux” featuring Eminem is nominated for Best Hip Hop, off his critically acclaimed 2024 album “The Force.”

Additionally, the 2025 VMAs Pre-Show, hosted by Nessa and Kevan Kenney, will feature special performances by KATSEYE. The one-hour special will air live on Sunday, September 7th, at 7:00 PM ET/4:00 PM PT on MTV, BET, and various other networks.
