Teair Tart is bound to face some backlash after his physical altercation with Travis Kelce during the recent game between the Chargers and the Chiefs. In a surprising turn of events, Tart delivered a strike to Kelce, a star tight end for Kansas City, during the match in Brazil, resulting in a chaotic sequence of events for Taylor Swift’s soon-to-be husband.

Even though the blow did not lead to Tart’s ejection, he took to Instagram to share a clip from the infamous “Chappelle’s Show” skit involving Rick James and Charlie Murphy, adding two crying laughing emojis for effect.

The incident occurred in the third quarter while the Chargers were in the lead, with Kelce and Tart colliding during a block. After the play ended, Kelce pushed Tart, possibly triggering the retaliatory strike from Tart’s end.

Kelce, visibly impacted by the hit, briefly staggered before appealing to the referees for a penalty, which was promptly awarded. Following the penalty, Kelce approached Tart, expressing his discontent with the situation at hand.

Despite the potential for ejection in cases of physical altercations, Tart was allowed to continue playing after the referees determined that the strike was an open-hand contact rather than a closed-fist punch to the head.

Commenting on the incident during the broadcast, officiating rules analyst Walt Anderson cited the specific nature of the blow as the reason for Tart’s continued participation in the game. The referees deemed it an open-hand contact to the head, not warranting disqualification in this particular instance.

After the Chargers secured a surprise victory, Tart referenced the skit from the “Chappelle’s Show” on Instagram, drawing comparisons to the real-life incident that unfolded on the field between him and Kelce.

Kelce’s performance in the game included two catches for 47 yards and a touchdown, with one of the catches narrowing the Chiefs’ deficit to 20-18 in the final quarter. However, Kelce also faced a concerning moment in the game when he collided with receiver Xavier Worthy, leading to Worthy’s exit due to a potentially severe injury.

The clash between Tart and Kelce has undoubtedly sparked debate and attention within the NFL community, underlining the intensity and unpredictability that can unfold during games between fierce rivals like the Chargers and the Chiefs. As the NFL season progresses, it remains to be seen how this incident will continue to reverberate across the league.
