Fans of the late musician and activist Mike Peters are coming together to commemorate his legacy through a series of events in and around his hometown of Dyserth in Denbighshire. Peters, the lead singer of The Alarm, passed away at the age of 66 in April after a long battle with blood cancer. To honor his memory, the four-day Red Rocks Solidarity Rock n Stroll event is being held, offering participants a mix of contemplation, relaxation, and celebration in and around the village pub, which is owned and managed by Peters’ wife, Jules.

Friends, family, and fans have joined forces to partake in various activities, including a charity hike aimed at raising awareness for stem cell donations. Peters was renowned for his global musical performances, but he also found solace in walking the hills of north Wales upon returning home. Approximately 30 supporters have chosen to follow in his footsteps by participating in a charity walk, one among several events planned for the weekend.

Jules Peters, his wife and co-founder of the cancer charity Love Hope Strength, expressed that the event is not only about community and music but also about encouraging individuals to register as potential bone marrow and stem cell donors. She highlighted the importance of the event as a way to celebrate life, friendship, music, and to potentially save lives through increased donor registration.

Participants have traveled from near and far to engage in hikes and beach walks through the picturesque locales that held a special place in Peters’ heart. People like Michael O’Connell from Connecticut, USA, conveyed the enduring friendships forged through shared experiences at concerts, while David Earnshaw, a long-time friend of the Peters family, emphasized the warmth and kindness of the community that has come together for the event.

During the event, musician Matt Peach from rock bands Kelsy Karter and The Heroines performed renditions of The Alarm’s songs, noting that the band’s music has been a lasting influence throughout his life. The gathering also serves as an opportunity for participants to consider becoming stem cell donors, with Deanna Cochran from Atlanta, Georgia, stressing the ease and impact of such a decision in potentially saving lives of those battling cancer and leukemia.

As fans, friends, and family members unite in honoring Mike Peters through the Red Rocks Solidarity Rock n Stroll event, they not only commemorate his musical contributions but also aim to raise awareness for stem cell donations and inspire a sense of community and solidarity in supporting cancer patients worldwide.
