The Goat’s Video “Trivia Goddess” Honors Lost Souls
Year of the Goat, the Swedish Occult Rock band, is back after a six-year hiatus with their fourth studio album, “Trivia Goddess,” which is set to release on September 12, 2025, under the Napalm Records label.
Starting their album release tour in Sweden this weekend, Year of the Goat has also unveiled the title track “Trivia Goddess” along with an official music video. The band delves into a dark period of history with this single, focusing on the witch trials during which 280 people were accused, convicted, and executed for witchcraft over an 8-year timespan.
The band’s exploration of this dark era pays homage to the accused souls, invoking Hekate, the Greek goddess of witchcraft, and portraying her as the “Trivia Goddess.” In their new music video, Year of the Goat addresses the desire for revenge felt by many viewers of their previous video, “The Power of Eve,” by creating a horror-themed clip that adds a new twist to the term “witch hunt.”
“Trivia Goddess” is deeply rooted in the stories of women who defied societal norms and fought against the oppressive structures that sought to devalue them. Drawing from the dark sounds of the 60s and 70s, the album’s production was influenced by the atmosphere that permeated that era. Mixed by Tom Dalgety at Psalm Studios in Wiltshire, UK, and then mastered by Magnus Lindberg of Magnus Lindberg Productions, “Trivia Goddess” promises to be a compelling and haunting addition to Year of the Goat’s discography.
The upcoming tour dates for Year of the Goat will see them perform at various venues across Europe, including cities like Norrkoping, Stockholm, Gothenburg, and Jönköping in Sweden. The band will also be part of “The Night Eternal” tour, with stops in Germany, Austria, and Poland, showcasing their dynamic sound and captivating stage presence to fans across the continent.
This latest album release from Year of the Goat is a testament to their dedication to storytelling and their unique blend of dark rock elements that draw listeners into the intriguing narratives they weave through their music. As they prepare to embark on their tour, fans can look forward to experiencing the raw energy and passion that Year of the Goat brings to the stage, creating an unforgettable live music experience for all who attend.
