Jon Caspi & The First Gun are thrilled to announce the upcoming release of a new EP on Friday, September 26th, available on all streaming platforms. This highly anticipated EP will feature the renowned singer-songwriter and all-around artist, Dan Bern, alongside other special guest performers. The New Jersey-based band, known for their unique blend of heartland rock, indie, punk, and Americana, is taking a fresh approach by releasing three separate EPs, spaced several months apart. The band’s groundbreaking project will culminate in a full-length vinyl 12″ album titled “Airport Plaza,” which is expected to drop in early 2026.

In an innovative move, the band recently released a track titled “New Record” to kick off their album announcement. This track serves as both a promotional tool and a standalone song. Keyboard player Bob Bailey-Lemansky expressed the sentiment behind the release, stating, “What better way is there to announce new music than with new music?” Lead guitarist Pete Jager added that “New Record” not only serves as a promotional single but also stands on its own merits as a catchy and appealing song. The band engaged with their fans through social media, requesting video clips featuring individuals with their favorite vinyl records, which were later compiled into a visually engaging video revealing the album cover. Jon Caspi, the band’s lead vocalist, emphasized the positive vibes and fun nature of the video, aiming to spread some much-needed positivity in today’s chaotic world.

To celebrate the release of their EP, Jon Caspi & The First Gun are hosting a lively performance and pizza party on Sunday, September 28th, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at North Shore School of Music in Hazlet, NJ. This event, which is free and open to all ages, allows attendees to bring their beverages of choice and promises an afternoon of musical entertainment and delicious pizza. The band is also scheduled to perform at The Stafford Twp Fallfest in Manahawkin Lake III on October 12th and at Ghost Hawk Brewery in Clifton on October 26th.

Jon Caspi & The First Gun’s diverse musical style spans across various genres, encompassing heartland rock, punk, indie, Americana, anthemic tunes, and even folk melodies. Lead vocalist Jon Caspi has been a prominent figure in the New Jersey music scene, having fronted the new wave band Bouncing Off Bob in the late 80s. transitioning into a solo career in the early 2000s with the release of three successful albums that garnered national radio play. His song “This Town,” dedicated to Keyport, NJ, became a local hit leading to a sandwich named after him at a nearby diner. In 2011, Caspi shifted back to his punk and Americana roots with the formation of Jon Caspi & The First Gun, achieving notable success with the popular track “Raise ‘Em High.”

The band’s accolades include being named “Best Live Act” by Elephant Talk Indie in Atlantic City in 2025, with drummer Jimmie Mizell receiving a nomination for “Best Drummer.” Jon Caspi & The First Gun are currently in the process of releasing three EPs, building up to a full-length vinyl record in 2026, featuring collaborations with well-known national touring artists on almost every track. Their dynamic live performances, combined with Caspi’s engaging storytelling, have captivated audiences and allowed them to share the stage with music icons such as Bruce Springsteen, The Psychedelic Furs, and The Gaslight Anthem, among others.
