This week sees an exciting lineup of new Canadian music releases, including highly anticipated albums from a variety of artists spanning different genres. Toronto hard rock veterans, Headstones, have just dropped their 11th studio album, “Burn All The Ships,” marking a significant milestone in their extensive recording career that began in 1993. This latest release is their first under noted indie label Dine Alone. Accompanying the album’s launch is a music video debut for the track “An Effort To Forget,” featuring a guest appearance by Metric’s Emily Haines. Frontman Hugh Dillon describes Haines as an “incendiary talent” whose contribution adds a powerful and emotionally elegant touch to the haunting rock piece. Haines herself praises the song as an “instant Headstones classic,” showcasing her admiration for the final outcome.

In addition to their musical endeavors, Dillon, a renowned TV and film actor, is currently engaged in executive producing, writing, and acting on the Paramount+ series, “Mayor of Kingstown,” where he stars alongside Jeremy Renner. Fans can catch Headstones live on a 12-city Canadian tour alongside rock heavyweights Finger Eleven and Tea Party, commencing in Penticton on Nov. 25 and concluding in Halifax on Dec. 13.

Alongside Headstones, iconic Canadian music sensation Sarah McLachlan is back with a new album, “Better Broken,” released under legendary U.S. label Concord Records. McLachlan, celebrated for her pioneering creation of Lilith Fair, recently premiered a documentary film exploring the festival’s legacy at the Toronto International Film Festival. The new album, McLachlan’s first in over a decade, delves into her personal emotional landscape. The single and video release for “Reminds Me,” featuring Katie Gavin, is a standout track from the album. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of her hit album “Fumbling Towards Ecstasy,” McLachlan is embarking on a cross-country tour starting in Victoria on Oct. 15 and wrapping up in Peterborough on Nov. 9.

Country star Josh Ross also joins the fray with his latest release, “Later Tonight,” following significant wins at the CCMA Awards for his single “Single Again” and the entertainer of the year category. This album comes on the heels of his Juno Award-winning EP “Complicated,” which features the chart-topping ballad “Trouble.” Ross, who hails from Ontario but is based in Nashville, is gearing up for an extensive national tour in February and March 2026, spanning 11 cities and 12 shows across Canada. Other notable releases this week include albums from Yukon Blonde, Jolie Laide, Daniel James McFadyen, Selina Martin, Altameda, Mappe Of, and bloom effect.
