Ocean Alley, a group of six best mates who form the Aussie rock band, has recently unveiled their latest album, Love Balloon. This new release marks a significant milestone in their musical journey, showcasing their growth and evolution as a band over the past decade. Comprised of members Baden Donegal, Angus Goodwin, Lach Galbraith, Mitch Galbraith, Nic Blom, and Tom O’Brien, the group’s fifth studio album offers listeners a deep dive into the intricacies of life and love in all its forms.

According to keyboardist and vocalist Lach Galbraith, Love Balloon was crafted with a sense of honesty, delving into the band’s origins and their current existence. With individual band members experiencing personal milestones like the arrival of new babies, the album delves into the multifaceted nature of love. Galbraith describes it as a journey through various emotions associated with love, ranging from joy and hurt to discomfort and disappointment. He likens love to a river, flowing unpredictably and requiring surrender to its fluctuating currents.

Recorded in Byron Bay and produced by the esteemed Nick DiDia, known for his work with iconic artists like Bruce Springsteen and Rage Against the Machine, Love Balloon features a stripped-down, emotionally resonant sound. The collaboration with DiDia was a significant moment for Ocean Alley, with the band embracing a “less is more” approach to their music to create a cohesive and impactful album.

To mark the album’s release, Ocean Alley is embarking on their most extensive Australian headline tour to date in early 2026. The tour will kick off in Melbourne on January 24, followed by shows in Brisbane and Sydney. The band will then head to the West Coast, with performances in Fremantle and Margaret River. The shows will feature supporting acts such as Nothing But Thieves, Rainbow Kitten, Ruby Fields, Skegss, Fields, and Smol Fish.

Living near Fremantle and Margaret River, Lach Galbraith is excited to perform in his local communities, anticipating the energy of the live performances. Reflecting on their journey as a band, Galbraith acknowledges the growth and changes they have experienced over the years. Despite living away from his bandmates, he values the space and independence it offers while remaining close to the bonds of friendship they share.

Fans can expect to hear new tracks like the title song “Love Balloon,” “Left of the Dealer,” and “Tangerine,” along with beloved classics such as “Confidence” and “Yellow Mellow” during the tour. Additionally, Ocean Alley will be taking their music to international audiences in 2026, with festival appearances and tours planned in North America, South America, and Europe.

As they continue to captivate audiences with their soulful sound and introspective lyrics, Ocean Alley’s Love Balloon serves as a testament to their musical journey and the enduring power of their bond as a band. With a mix of new tracks and timeless favorites, the band is set to create an unforgettable experience for fans across the globe.
