It was on this day in 1979 that they made their recording debut by releasing a three-song EP titled “Three.” This EP featured the tracks “Out of Control” and “Stories for Boys,” both of which would later be re-recorded for their debut album, “Boy.” The third song on the EP was the B-side titled “Boy/Girl.”

U2 quickly rose to immense success following the release of “Three,” going on to release a total of 14 studio albums and selling over 150 million records worldwide. Their impact on the music industry was further solidified when they were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2005.

Frontman Bono has hinted at an upcoming album that he describes as “an unreasonable guitar record,” hinting at a return to their rock roots and exciting fans with the promise of new music on the horizon.
