Japanese garage rock trio DURAN is gearing up to release their latest album ‘Vornak’ on November 21st through Electric Gospel Records. This marks the band’s fifth studio album, showcasing a shift from a solo project to a band-centric approach. The album was meticulously crafted by frontman Duran, alongside bandmates MASAE on bass and Shiho on drums, capturing raw energy through live single-take recordings at Live Music & Bar Maman straight onto tape. The album’s mastering was expertly handled by Soichiro Nakamura at Peace Music Studio, while the striking hand-drawn cover art was created by Atsuo from the renowned band Boris.

‘Vornak’ serves as a fusion of garage rock, hard rock, and blues elements, featuring eleven tracks that delve into themes of anger, lust, ruin, and money. The album showcases fuzzy riffs and gritty vocals, serving as a musical journey through intense emotions and powerful instrumentation. Notably, the album includes a stripped-down cover of Kanye West’s ‘Black Skinhead’, showcasing DURAN’s unique rock arrangement and style. Vocal contributions from Nana Hatori on ‘Woman’ add depth and dimension to the album, enriching the band’s sonic palette.

To celebrate the release of ‘Vornak’, DURAN will kick off the Vornak tour on November 25th at Chiba LOOK, with an extensive series of performances across Japan, including stops in Nagoya, Umeda, Yamanashi, Kyoto, Kobe, Hiroshima, and Tokyo. Following their domestic tour, the band will embark on an international tour with stops in the Philippines and Thailand in June of the following year. This tour promises to bring their electrifying sound to audiences around the world, showcasing DURAN’s dynamic and captivating live performances.

DURAN’s musical journey traces back to frontman Naito Duran Haruhisa’s early career with LDH J-rock band The ROOTLESS, where he gained recognition before exploring various musical projects. Transitioning to a solo career in 2017, Duran’s collaboration with notable artists like B’z’s Koshi Inaba and Kiyoharu propelled his success. Over the years, DURAN’s musical evolution has been characterized by stylistically diverse albums, ranging from psychedelic rock to avant-garde and blues influences.

With ‘Vornak’, DURAN solidifies their position as a formidable three-piece band, elevating their sound and presence in the music scene. The band’s evolution from a solo endeavor to a cohesive unit reflects their dedication to musical growth and experimentation. ‘Vornak’ promises to captivate audiences with its raw energy, intricate compositions, and spirited performances, setting the stage for DURAN’s continued success in the global music landscape.
