It feels like a typical late summer Sunday evening in Leeds at the Brudenell Social Club. As the sun sets, locals gather around the outdoor tables, savoring the final moments of the season before the onset of autumn.

The ambiance inside the venue perfectly matches the relaxed and warm atmosphere outside. Flyte, the musical endeavor of Will Taylor and Nick Hill, kick off their tour in support of their fourth studio album across the UK, US, and Europe.

Lumi, a Dutch duo embarking on their first visit to the UK to join Flyte on this tour, kick-starts the night with a captivating set of electronic folk-pop melodies rich with harmonies that bring to mind the sounds of Dolores Forever. The seamless blending of their voices creates a mesmerizing experience for everyone present.

Subsequently, Elanor Moss, hailing from Lincolnshire, takes the stage and pours her heart out through a series of hauntingly beautiful and vulnerable tunes. Her rendition of Joni Mitchell’s “Cactus Tree” and the emotional depth of her original songs evoke the spirit of Eva Cassidy, showcasing her impeccable storytelling abilities that captivate the audience’s every fiber.

Flyte emerges to roaring applause, with Elanor Moss joining them on stage to provide additional guitar and vocals. They kick off with “Emily and Me” from their new album “Between You and Me,” seamlessly transitioning from Moss’s heartfelt set to their own intimate sound.

The band’s performance is marked by introspective pieces like “Alabaster,” featuring an unconventional drum beat played through a cassette recorder, and “I’m So Down,” a deeply personal track written on the fly during the album creation process. As Will Taylor admits to the crowd, the band is still getting comfortable with their new material, having intentionally kept the writing and recording process organic and unforced.

As the Yorkshire crowd cheers and chants “Yorkshire! Yorkshire!”, Flyte brings a local legend, Billie Marten, on stage for a rendition of “I’m Not There.” Marten’s homecoming is met with adoration, showcasing the camaraderie between the artists.

Throughout the set, Flyte unveils almost every track from their new record, delivering an evening filled with intricate and intimate music. The pinnacle of vulnerability and musical finesse arrives when the quartet gathers around a single microphone for a mesmerizing a cappella rendition of “Archie, Marry Me.”

From Lumi’s ethereal entrance to Elanor Moss’s poignant performance and Flyte’s soul-stirring music, the night is a testament to rawness, honesty, and musical excellence that reverberates throughout the Brudenell Social Club, leaving a lasting impression of unparalleled artistic brilliance.
