Max Cavalera discusses Sepultura’s origins, Soulfly’s success, and metal’s evolution

Back in mid-September 1994, as he prepared to perform at the prestigious Monsters of Rock Festival, tragedy struck when his stepson Dana Wells passed away in a car accident. Devastated by the loss, Max, alongside his wife and manager Gloria, and his brother Igor, struggled to come to terms with the heartbreaking event.
Only four months later, after a Sepultura performance in South London, Max faced another blow when the band decided to dismiss Gloria as their manager.
