Super Furry Animals to reunite for tour in the upcoming year
Welsh rock band Super Furry Animals has announced their reunion for a tour next year, marking their first shows in over a decade. Following in the footsteps of bands like Oasis and Pulp, Super Furry Animals will be hitting the road with Huw Banford, Cian Ciaran, Daf Ieuan, Guto Pryce, and Gruff Rhys taking the stage once again in six gigs across Britain and Ireland next May.
The excitement surrounding the reunion tour has been building up, with fans eagerly anticipating the chance to see the iconic Welsh band back in action. The Supacabra tour is set to kick off in Dublin on May 6, with subsequent dates in Glasgow, Llandudno, Manchester, London, and a homecoming gig at Cardiff’s Utilita Arena on May 16. Tickets for the tour will be available for purchase this Friday, giving fans the opportunity to secure their spot at these highly anticipated shows.
Known for their eclectic sound and high-energy performances, Super Furry Animals have built a loyal following over the years with their unique blend of rock and pop influences. With nine albums under their belt, the band will be treating fans to a mix of old favorites and beloved hits from their extensive discography during the upcoming tour. The tour will feature duo Getdown Services as supporting acts for all dates except London, where trio Honeyglaze will take the stage, along with Welsh six-piece Melin Melyn set to appear in Cardiff.
Hints of the band’s reunion began circulating with mysterious posters spotted in Cardiff and cryptic messages shared on their social media channels. With their website simply displaying “29.09.2025,” fans have been eagerly awaiting official confirmation of the reunion tour. Super Furry Animals originally formed in the early 1990s in Cardiff, with Rhys Ifans as the lead singer before pursuing his acting career. Their debut album, “Fuzzy Logic,” released in 1996, marked the beginning of a successful musical journey that spanned eight more albums, including the critically acclaimed “Rings Around The World,” nominated for the Mercury Music Prize in 2001.
Despite taking a hiatus in 2010, the band has continued to captivate audiences with sporadic performances and tours. While there has been no new music since their single “Bing Bong” in 2016, Super Furry Animals remain a beloved fixture in the music scene. Gruff Rhys, in particular, has ventured into solo projects, releasing several albums and collaborating with other artists. As the band gears up for their highly anticipated reunion tour, fans can look forward to experiencing the magic of Super Furry Animals once again on stage.
