Space One Eleven offers a unique afterschool studio art program called City Center Art, catering to students of all skill levels. The program aims to enhance visual communication skills and nurture creative thinking in young artists. Throughout the course of the semester, participants are guided in learning the fundamental elements of art and principles of design, honing their foundation skills, and delving deeper into art criticism, theory, and history.

The teaching artists at City Center Art strike a delicate balance between practical art creation and critical engagement. Students are encouraged to not only create art but also engage in discussions and written reflections about their work. This comprehensive approach aims to provide a transformative learning experience for budding artists, allowing them to develop a holistic understanding and appreciation of art.

One of the standout features of Space One Eleven’s City Center Art program is its commitment to accessibility. The program offers a scholarship application process through which art class fees are determined on a sliding scale. This means that families may be eligible for free or reduced tuition, thanks to the support of generous foundations and private donors, making art education more inclusive and equitable for all.

City Center Art caters to students across different grade levels, ensuring tailored instruction for each age group. For students in grades 2-3, the program runs on Tuesdays from September 2 to December 16, 2025, between 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm. Grades 4-5 students can participate on Mondays from September 8 to December 15, 2025, during the same time slot. Similarly, students in grades 6-8 can attend classes on Wednesdays from September 3 to December 10, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Lastly, high school students in grades 9-12 can join the program on Saturdays from September 6 to December 13, 2025, between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm.

City Center Art at Space One Eleven provides a nurturing and enriching environment for young artists to explore their creative potential, develop essential art skills, and engage with art in a meaningful and thoughtful manner. By offering a blend of practical art-making and critical analysis, the program equips students with a well-rounded understanding of art while fostering a love and appreciation for the creative process. Through its commitment to accessibility, City Center Art ensures that all students have the opportunity to participate in and benefit from high-quality art education.
