New video proves LSU football player Kyren Lacy not responsible for fatal crash

Despite the allegations against him, Lacy found himself behind bars at the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex in January 2025, facing charges of hit-and-run driving with serious injury or death, reckless operation with accident, and negligent homicide. However, he was able to secure his release on a $151,000 bond following his arrest.

Tragically, just a few months later in April 2025, Lacy passed away in an apparent act of suicide, just two days before he was set to appear before a grand jury regarding the December 2024 crash. Reports indicate that Lacy engaged in a dispute with a family member on the day of his death, allegedly brandishing a firearm before fleeing the scene. This led to a car chase with police, where he ultimately turned the weapon on himself.

Following these events, Lacy’s legal counsel has remained steadfast in defending his innocence, emphasizing that the newly surfaced video evidence exonerates him from any involvement in the fatal crash. The lawyer was not immediately available for comment following the video’s release, but has consistently maintained Lacy’s integrity and innocence throughout the ordeal.

They highlighted that their in-depth examination, supported by crash reconstruction experts and available information at the time, led to the conclusion that Lacy’s reckless driving behavior may have contributed to the sequence of events culminating in the crash.
